Simply put, the Robot Restaurant in Tokyo is incredible.
It’s everything you are hoping it will be and more. Yes, it is one of the most touristy things you can do in Tokyo. No, you will not find many Japanese people at the show (or even any who know what it is). Are either of these things important to you? No.
Sure, some squares among us might call it “overrated”, “interesting”, or a “tourist trap”, but these people clearly don’t know how to embrace their inner freak and have a good time. Is the Robot Restaurant cheap? No. Is it really a restaurant? No. Are there even robots? Not really. But none of that matters. It’s awesome.
And if you find yourself wondering at the end of this post, “Do I really want to spend money to see this?” then let me be the first to tell you, yes. Yes, you do.
Also, the food sucks so don’t bother paying the extra fee for a meal.

Excited to head to Japan and do it up at the one and only Robot Restaurant?
Here is the official website: http://www.shinjuku-robot.com/. You should probably book in advance. This is not something you want to leave for the last minute.
The cost is (at the time of publishing) ‎¥8,000 per person. You can find cheaper tickets through third-party vendors (I got mine for ‎¥5,500 each), but should you end up having to pay full price, know that it will be worth it.
Lastly, nobody is checking inside of your bags, so if you fancy buying your snacks and drinks at the konbini across the street, then go for it.
Fucking have fun, people.
