Whenever I find myself on the beach in Rio (every day) I feel as though I am a preferred guest as a five-star hotel or a high-roller at a Vegas casino (at least what I imagine it’s like): there are people who setup my chair and umbrella, people to make sure I have things to eat and drink (beer included), people to buy trinkets and sungas from and of course, the glory that is the beach itself.
Today I tried out a snack I had not yet had at the beach: fried cheese on a stick (with oregano).
I was incredibly skeptical, but it couldn’t be as dangerous as the shrimp on a stick (still haven’t eaten this). Upon eating it (said cheese) I was pleased to find that it was delicious (and how could it not be – it is cheese after all), and even more surprised was how everyone else on the beach was chasing down the fried-cheese-stick-man for their own beach snackage (we may have a new favorite).
