Recently a long and complicated string of unfortunate events took place in this Brazilian life of mine, and so I have constructed this visual approximation to help with everyone’s understanding:

Don’t understand? I got kicked out of my apartment (because the owner loves his girlfriend more than me).
Thankfully, I have been taken in by the Refugee Camp (which earned its name by way of hosting lost foreigners in Brazil).
The week I spent on that floor provided me with some of the best memories I will take home from Brazil, and the hospitality of my friends remains a shining example of selfless human compassion.
However, this experience did teach me many things (including how to apartment hunt in Portuguese, which is far worse than doing so in English (previously considered one of the worst things to ever have to do)), and I am sure they will all be reflected here at one point or another.
I have since left the pasture of air mattresses and have found a place to call home in the midst of this Rio de Janeiro adventure.
Now it is time to figure out my life (and continue hunting for my own apartment).
