The Continental Divide Trail in Four Minutes [VIDEO]

By Mac 4 Comments

When I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail I took a small video every day because I thought “it would look cool to see how the trail changes over time”.

More than two years after my Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike, and I finally go around to putting all those clips together into a short video. Said video was a surprisingly huge hit (over four million views – or the population of Panama – at the time of writing this).

Since apparently videos of walking across the States of Divided America can, at least on some level, compete with all the cat videos on the internet, I decided to make a video of my Continental Divide Trail thru-hike. This time around, I put more thought into which part of each day I recorded (i.e. I tried to stick to the highlights) and I also had my new camera; so the expectation is that this video is/will be superior to the first.

So let me know what you think! Hopefully, this video can steer some of you keener would-be thru-hikers to the CDT instead of the PCT (since the PCT is becoming increasingly crowded and has probably lost a bit of magic still sprinkled across the CDT).

Since I know you're wondering, here are the timestamps for the beginning of each state:

  • New Mexico: 0:19
  • Colorado: 1:42
  • Wyoming: 2:30
  • Montana: 3:04

Loved the video of the CDT. Glad to see you included a brief clip of TEDOLSON, aka: William Wallace aka:
Stubing – The Dog not Stubing the Man.

Hike on and Thanks!
