Growatt INFINITY 1300 Power Station Review

The Growatt INFINITY 1300 Power Station is a combination package of the Growatt INFINITY 1300 and one Growatt 200W Solar Panel. The Growatt INFINITY 1300 is a 1382Wh power bank with an 1800W output. It weighs 42.32 lb / 19.2 kg and has two USB-C ports, four USB-A ports, four Type B outlets, and a 12V carport.

It packs enough capacity to power large devices like powered coolers, televisions, drones, and laptops (even a microwave or blow dryer if you’re trying to get fancy) and has an impressively quick recharge time of under two hours.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Growatt INFINITY 1300 Power Station.

Testing Conditions

I’ve used the Growatt INFINITY 1300 Power Station charging gear during my van build as well as while traveling in my Subaru Outback. It has thus far survived the heat inside my vehicle in the summer months and in the tail end of winter. My primary means of charging the Growatt INFINITY 1300 has been via a standard household outlet, but I’ve also been using the Growatt 200W Solar Panel to supplement when on the road.

Pros and Cons

+ Two USB-C ports and three USB-A ports
+ Four Type B outlets (a “regular” wall outlet)
+ Can be recharged via car, wall outlet, or solar
+ Wireless charging via top of unit
+ Monocrystalline solar panel

Incredibly loud when charging
– USB outlets located on the side of unit
– Heavy at nearly 45 lb / 21 kg
– Can’t get the app to work

The Good

The Build Quality: The Growatt INFINITY 1300 Power Station is built well. You can tell simply by handling the unit that this isn’t a cut-rate lithium battery encased in a cheap plastic shell. It feels incredibly solid and it appears to be more than some competitor power stations that offer little more than a cheap battery thinly encased in a plastic shell. The screen on the front of the unit is crisp and bright, the outlets all feel solid and the unit itself feels like one solid piece (even when in transport) – contrary to some other power stations of inferior build quility.

The Capacity: The Growatt INFINITY 1300 has a ton of capacity for its size and its price. Unless you’re planning on running large appliances with it (e.g. a blender, microwave, or blowdryer), you can expect to be able to recharge your devices with ease. Phones, laptops, cameras, and speakers are no problem for this power station. But should you ever need to run something larger, power tools even, you’ll be able to do some solid work with the INFINITY 1300 and its 1382Wh of power.

The Solar Charging: The Growatt 200W Solar Panel does a good job of charging the Growatt INFINITY 1300. It’s a monocrystalline panel which is more efficient than the polycrystalline panels included with some less expensive power stations. It’s simple to attach to the power station and the wiring and connecting pieces all feel solidly made. It folds out into four sections which can make it a bit unwieldy during setup, but it packs down nicely for travel and storage. The Growatt 200W Solar Panel is also compatible with other Growatt power stations and third-party power banks with an MC4 connector.

The Wireless Charging: The Growatt INFINITY 1300 has wireless charging built into the top of it and I love it. Why more power stations do not do this is a good question. Because I frequently have it positioned behind a seat in my car, the wireless charging makes charging devices like my phone or headphones easy – without the need to putt the enough power station out to access a port on the front.

The Okay

The Panel Size: The solar panel included in the Growatt INFINITY 1300 Power Station bundle is the Growatt 200W Solar Panel. It’s 7.6 ft (92 in) / 2.34 m long when fully deployed and is 21.2 in / 539 mm tall; it weighs 15.4 lb / 7 kg. Yes, it offers a ton of potential solar charging but it can be tough to find a spot large enough to accommodate the entire panel (depending on where you’re bookdocked). It can also be a bit tricky getting the panel set up with the entirety of it facing the absolute correct direction.

The Portability: The Growatt INFINITY 1300 Power Station isn’t light. It weighs 26.12 lb / 11.85 kg. The single handle across the top can make it cumbersome to carry (as opposed to two handles on either side). The ALLPOWERS SP033 200W solar panel weighs 13.98 lb / 6.3 kg. It is possible for a single person to carry the S1500 and the ALLPOWERS SP033 200W. Each one of them has a handle. As stated above, I appreciate that the unit is a neat rectangular prism when the handle is folded down.

The Bad

The App: Despite my best efforts, I could not get the mobile app for the Growatt INFINITY 1300 Power Station to work. I cannot even successfully create an account to log in to the app. It requests an email address and then requires you to enter a verification code sent to that email address (before even creating your account). This verification code has never come despite me trying multiple email accounts and yes, checking my spam/trash/all mail folders as well. A bit disappointing for such an expensive unit but not necessarily a dealbreaker. I’ve yet to test a power bank with an impressive app.

The Price: The INFINITY 1300 is fairly priced when compared to comparable power stations. That said, it’s still an expensive piece of gear and you’ll want to do some thinking before dropping nearly $1,800 on a power station. You can commonly find it discounted on the Growatt website, but even then the price tag may be enough to make you think twice. If you’re interested in something a bit more affordable, Growatt also offers a smaller version, the Growatt VITA 550.

Who is it for?

The Growatt INFINITY 1300 Power Station is a good solution for keeping small, medium, or (some) large electronics charged while traveling or camping off the grid. For small to medium-sized groups (three to five people), this system will provide ample power to keep your devices charged – especially if you plan on taking full advantage of solar charging.

If you’re wanting to power an entire off-grid living situation (for more than a couple of hours), you’ll need more than just this device. That said, if you need something to hold you over at home during a blackout, this will do the job (so long as you’re not trying to do a Lord of the Rings marathon of a 100″ television).

Wrap Up

The Growatt INFINITY 1300 Power Station has the capacity to keep large devices running longer and to keep smaller devices charged for a seemingly indefinite amount of time – particularly when paired with a Growatt solar panel.

The build quality and wireless charging are welcome features as well. That said, it’s an expensive device with a finicky app and quite a bit of bulk. Certainly not something you would want to be transporting without a vehicle and ample space.
