The PCT: Three Second Thru-Hike (VIDEO)

By Mac 17 Comments

It takes a long time to walk the 2,600 miles of Pacific Crest Trail, and a good percentage of those miles offer very little in terms of scenery, wildlife, or enjoyment in general (aka most of Oregon).

Before I started down the PCT I eagerly watched any video or even raw footage to pump myself up for the adventure, and to my dismay, much of it was absolute garbage (really, just terrible).

So I had the genius idea of taking a short video each day hiked, with the hopes of stringing them all together at the hike's conclusion (yes, although the PCT posts continue, I am in fact finished hiking) to offer a glimpse of what the PCT has to offer.

So? How did it turn out? You be the judge.

Pretty Lights – I Can See It In Your Face

Which camera or GO PRo did you use for filming. I am in the market to get one. Go Pro Silver?

I used this camera http://amzn.to/1QySQN8

I also have a GoPro Hero 3 Black, but I didn’t use it for making this video.

Dude, sweet video and music. I am planning my pct Thru hike April 2017 so I can save up. How far into your hike did you get past being super sore and but out more mile days. I have a friend that did it and he said he planned on doing 16 mile days but grew doing doing tons of 30 mile days. Great job, very inspiring

It’s hard to say, but by Oregon a 30 mile day was definitely something that was completely realistic whenever I felt like it. If you check out this post you can see how my stats progressed over the course of the trail:

Just shorten the video by 55% and that’s what ‘Wild’ is ๐Ÿ˜‰

Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks! Music is “I Can See It In Your Face” by Pretty Lights and the song that starts to come in at the end is “Love Like A Sunset Part II” by Phoenix.

I can’t believe I forgot to include that in this post (has been updated).

It was a fantastic video. You said you ditched the GoPro, so was this filmed with something else?

Also generally really enjoyed accounts and your attitude, congrats on something I will never do. ๐Ÿ˜€

Thanks Glen! I didn’t film any of this with my GoPro, it was all filmed with my Canon S100 (which held up surprisingly well over the course of the hike).

The S110 is the new model.
