Jonesy the Cat

As a means of combating Fire Island’s deer epidemic, the locals on the island have taken to training specially bred felines to hunt and kill the encroaching deer.

However, not all of the chosen kitties make the cut and the rejects are usually offered up as sacrifices to the Great South Bay, ensuring safe passage for the ferries. Luckily for Jonesy here we were able to save him from such a fate (even though he did deserve it for not meeting deer hunt qualifications).

Jonesy enjoys chasing laser pointers, meowing, sitting on laps, pooping in a box and attempting to escape outside at every given opportunity. He does not so much enjoy being sprayed down with the hose, being inverted, the company of males or flavored vodkas. At the end of the summer he will be tested once again as we challenge him to swim back to the mainland – I do not expect he will make it.
