Spikeball: More Fun Than You Think

By Mac Leave a Comment

The beach. A place for families, a place for the wealthy. A place for hobos, a place for marijuana enthusiasts. A place for fun and a place for games. What games you ask? Well besides the usual volleyball, football, soccer, frisbee, saddlebacking and burnlegging there exists something known in some circles as spikeball.

What is this spikeball?

In its simplest form, this game borrows volleyball rules, but instead of hitting a ball over a net, your (team’s) aim is to bounce a small rubber ball off the trampolinesque centerpiece (three volley max, score on serve, spiking encouraged). Games go to 21 and can continue for some time depending on the skillfulness of the players (and can attract quite a crowd due to the queer nature of the sport).
