25 Things Japan Should Have Proofread

By Mac 4 Comments

This isn’t the first time I have had the urge to comment on the – creative – English waiting to be discovered across Japan, but after over a year in the country I have more to share.

Like I said in my earlier post, for some reason I did not expect this from Japan. Much in the same way I didn’t expect Japan to be living in the technology stone age (everyone faxes everything and public wi-fi is difficult to come by) – but that is a discussion for another time.

Maybe if Japanese schools elected to actually teach students English instead of forcing them to memorize their arbitrary dialogues and “how to answer the test questions”, then Japan’s English proficiency wouldn’t be in the toilet (and this despite the Japanese government hurling money at English education).

But my hatred of the broken and archaic English education system in Japan is also a discussion that we will save for another time.

For now, let us enjoy the fruits of Japan’s disservice to their English-speaking minority in everyone’s favorite form: pictures.
