Long had I heard stories of this beverage, but my first encounter with it in the wild occurred whilst perusing the drink selection at a supermarket in Florianópolis.
This beer, brewed by Brouwerij Bosteels in Belgium (and appropriately names Deus, or God in Portuguese, because it contains some god’s facial hair shavings and will temporarily make you invincible (but I am pretty sure all beer does that)), will run you a hefty R$260 a bottle (or at the current rate ~$130 USD).
But to make up for the hefty price tag it sports an 11.5% ABV and comes with two fancy beer flutes (sorry, they are glasses, not musical instruments for conjuring up beer).
Perhaps one day I will taste this fabled beer for myself, but seeing as the alternative is to purchase over forty bottles of cachaça (Cinquenta e Um to be specific) for literally months worth of drinking, I may save experimentation with this beverage for another time.
